Eric Prydz - Call On Me
Notorious both for its gleefully cheesy (bordering on pornographic) video and for reaching number one with the lowest weekly sales in chart history (note - a record since smashed by no less than Elvis), 'Call On Me' is a pretty damn retarded house track based on a snatch of vocal from Stevie Winwood's 'Valerie'. Yet there's something strangely appealling about the way it shamelessly milks the refrain for all it's worth and ignores anything that would detract from the one and only point it has to make - middle 8s are for wusses, right? Winwood obviously liked it too as he was moved to re-record his vocal for the occasion.

Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
She will be loved is a bitter sweet love song about a girl who just needs love. The point of view is from a lover who in reverse just needs a bit of love as well. "Please don't try so hard to say good-bye" is repeated throught the ending of the song which gives the sense that the girl wants to run away from some heart break, but the singing lover wants her to run to him. In the video of this song it is a medley of an affair with a young gir and her mother, this could not be more perfect for the song. Just listening to the song gives a mood of wanting more out of life, and love. One can not help but to sing along and feel the tragic love that comes from the lyrics. The music its self almost sounds like a beating heart with the rythem of the drums and makes the listener want to connect. This song is great to listen to in a hot bubble bath with a relaxing aroma, or driving down an open highway.
